Superintendent Dickon Turner, Somerset Commander for Avon and Somerset Police, visited Wellington Police Station to present a certificate of excellence to PC Rachel Lang from Wellington Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The presentation was to commend Rachel for her actions when searching for a vulnerable missing female from the Wellington area in February.

Despite being fairly new to the police, when the female was located by officers in a pre-hypothermic state, Rachel showed good knowledge of first aid, courage to make decisions about what action was required and demonstrated great leadership skills by reassuring her colleagues and ensuring everyone knew what needed to be done and that everything was done properly.

A police spokesman said “This is an excellent example of the professionalism, dedication and commitment to safeguarding those most vulnerable in our communities that Rachel displays.”
