A COUPLE with strong links to the Wellington area have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.

Jack and Una Hawkins, who marked their special anniversary on October 5, had six children and have 23 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Jack left school at the age of 14 in 1932 and started work on a farm in Nynehead where he stayed until the late 1960s when he was made redundant. He then worked at Fox Bros Textiles until he retired.

Una had various jobs throughout her life including factory work and land work.

The couple had six children – Mike, Rose, Edward, Jean, Keith and Sylvia. Sylvia sadly died in 1991. They now live with Rose in Taunton.
