HUNDREDS thronged Wellington as children from Beech Grove Primary School pressed the big red button to switch on the town's Christmas lights on Saturday.

The entertainment started with display by Wellington Majorettes, and was followed by a donkey-led a procession of children along High Street and a Nativity tableau enacted by local youngsters.

Long queues see Father Christmas in his grotto at the Wellington Weekly News office, and members of Wellington Pantomime Group were in costume for the event.
