Charitable Wellington-based food business P Daddy’s Pop Up Kitchen has been helping vulnerable people in and around the town.
It gave 25 freshly made meals to the Community Council for Somerset after hearing about the charity through one of its Talking Cafes Facebook LIVE! events.
Residents were grateful for the nutritional and tasty dishes of chilli con carne, chicken curry and meatballs marinara with rice, still warm from cooking.
P Daddy’s specialises in fetes, festivals and private events but has turned its culinary skills to supporting local care homes and others during the coronavirus lockdown.
Head chef Paul Orellana-Fitch said: “We just want to help where we can, as so many people are finding it hard to manage.
“We are a small family run business set up three years ago and want to give back to the community – we are passionate about serving good freshly made food from around the world sourced locally.”
P Daddy’s says it has given at least 20 per cent of its profits to local charities including St Margaret’s Hospice since it started, and regularly gives food to key workers and isolated elderly people in the community.
It has provided meals through referrals from local community groups, including the local foodbank, since the coronavirus crisis began.
CCS Talking Cafes offer free help and advice, and are open to people throughout Somerset. They can help with a wide range of issues – from benefits and housing to being an unpaid carer in need of support.
Due to the coronavirus situation, the advice sessions now take place online – every weekday at 11am on the Talking Cafes Somerset Facebook page – www.facebook.com/talkingcafesomerset
Since the start of the lockdown, CCS Village, Community and Carers Agents have responded to more than 47,000 requests for help.
