THREE weeks ago Steve Hale, while diving with Wellington and Taunton Sub Aqua Club off Plymouth, lost his camera and torch.
He had been training a new diver and during an ascent, while sharing air, the items became detached and sank to the sea bed.
The club returned to the same site on Sunday, five miles from Plymouth and half a mile off the coast, and miraculously Steve, from Bridgwater, found the items 18 metres below the water surface. Storms and high seas in the time between the two dives made the discovery even more unlikely.
Club training officer Mike Stewart said: “Once something is lost in the sea it is virtually impossible to find it. Imagine the chances and delight of the same diver finding his lost camera.”
