PLANS have been submitted to erect two portakabin classrooms at a Wellington secondary school to accommodate an increase in pupils.
The additional classrooms are part of a £2.6-billion Somerset Council funding package - announced in May 2024 - which aims to help local schools cope with an increase in pupils.
Court Fields School currently have 842 pupils, up from 816 in October 2023, and expect to have 884 in attendance for the new school year in September.

Other site improvements will include upgrading the dining facilities, the school hall, providing an additional science classroom and performing arts studio, as well as the two additional general-purpose classrooms.
A public online consultation period is currently taking place until July 4, and the application can be viewed using the reference 43/25/0045.
