More than a third of results A or A*Students at Wellington School are celebrating after 36 per cent of grades were awarded at the top A*/A-level.
Youngsters across the year group will be taking up places on a range of courses at leading universities, including two at Oxford and one at Cambridge.
In addition to Tim Kilbey, Victoria Zhang and Angus Hunter going on to Oxbridge, notable performances came from Alexander Richardson-Jones with four A* grades; Michelle Jacob with three A* grades, and Morwenna Maunder, Tommy Law and Derek Lai all gaining three A* grades and an A.
Outgoing headmaster Henry Price said: “While it is easy to focus on the highest grades, I am delighted by a number of pupils who achieved hard-earned results while continuing to contribute broadly to the wider life of the school.
“It is these qualities, as well as their grades, which will serve pupils well in the future and I am proud that Wellington continues to serve able and well-rounded pupils.”
Wellington students will proceed on to a range of academic and vocational courses ranging from Maths to Medicine, Economics to English. More than 80 per cent of pupils will be going to their preferred choice of university, with 65 per cent going to Russell Group universities or equivalent.
New headteacher Eugene Du Toit said: “I congratulate all the leaving pupils on their successes and I look forward to building on the strong academic platform that is already in place at Wellington.”
