Hello children! I hope you’re having a good week.
On Thursday mum and dad surprised me when they said we were going to the beach for a few days! It took ages to drive there but I listened to music and we played car games. We arrived in the evening and ate fish and chips on the beach and watched the sunset! It was great!
On Friday I had surf lessons on the beach, which were so much fun. It was really tricky at first but I got better with practise. The water was freezing but I wore a wetsuit and I warmed up quickly after paddling. I managed to stand up a few times but mostly I just fell off!
On Saturday I built a kite with dad and we flew it on the beach because it was really windy. Dad told me about a sport called kite-surfing and we watched some people doing it. It’s like surfing – but you use a kite to pull you around! We had a picnic on the beach but our sandwiches got sand in them! Yuck! That evening we played board games and spent time together as a family.
On Sunday we went on a hike around the countryside near the beach. It was a really long walk and my legs were tired but we got really cool views from the top. Dad let me use his camera and I got lots of pictures of wildlife and plants. In the afternoon I collected wood and we made a fire on the beach. We cooked meat for dinner and toasted marshmallows for pudding! Yum!
On Monday I built sand castles on the beach and collected shells to make them look real. I built a moat all the way around the edge and connected it to the sea so water could flow through. We sunbathed for the rest of the day and swam in the sea. I have a lilo so I could relax and float at the same time! Mum cooked chicken for us for tea and I had an early night because I was tired.
On Tuesday dad and I woke up early and we went fishing. I have never been fishing before and we had to be very quiet and careful. I caught a few fish and dad caught loads, which was fun, and we let them back into the water. It was our last night on the beach so I was quite sad but we had a lovely meal and watched the sunset. What a great trip!
