MOTORISTS in Wellington are mystified why police will not take action over a car parked in the town centre almost 24/7 for the past week.
The untaxed white Fiat car has been seen continuously in High Street, with an old penalty charge notice in the windscreen which gives the impression of a traffic warden having ticketed it.
But despite the tax having run out in the middle of March, police said it did not fall under its DVLA powers to seize the vehicle, and it had not been reported to the force.
They said parking offences were a matter for Somerset Council.
The council said any vehicle in contravention of parking restrictions was liable to receive a penalty notice from its parking enforcement contractor.
