THE date is fast approaching for this year’s Fitzhead Fete and organisers are keeping their fingers crossed for sunny skies.
The annual fete and flower show, is held on the closest Saturday to St James Day (July 25) — this year scheduled for Saturday, July 26 — and promises all the classic traditions of a village event.
Held at the Fitzhead Cricket Ground, the event has garnered quite a reputation and draws people in from far and wide to enjoy a fun afternoon of fellowship and games.
There will be a number of activities on offer for all age groups and the duck race the following Sunday is always a big hit.
To ensure all are kept hydrated there will be a beer tent available and why not sit down for a delicious cream tea, join the barbecue or sample some homemade cake.
No village fete is complete without a competition or two - and prizes will be awarded on the day to the best flowers, cakes and photographs and other displays on view in the flower show tent.
At the end of the day there will also be a grand raffle with some excellent items to be won.
All this will be accompanied by the wonderful sounds of Wiveliscombe Town Band who are excited to be performing at the fete once again.
The fete is held by kind permission of the Shapland family and Fitzhead Cricket Club, which organises its fixtures around the fete date.
Organisers added: “The weather is looking fine at present but has changed over the last few days so as always we may need to review nearer the time just in case.”
