LOCAL residents are invited to two open events at Abbeyfield sheltered housing sites which the mayor will be attending.

The Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Janet Lloyd, will be attending both events put on by Ivy House and The Old Vicarage, which are managed by the not-for-profit Abbeyfield Living Society.

On Monday, June 9, Ivy House will host an open house coffee morning at 10am. The Old Vicarage will follow with a barbecue ‘Don’t Eat Alone’ lunch on Monday, June 16, at 12pm.

Cllr Lloyd and fellow councillors have confirmed their attendance at both events, which will provide a window into the lives of the residents and the services that both houses provide.

Senior House Manager Rebecca South, who manages both houses, says, “We want to give our residents the opportunity to take pride in their home – they are our best advocates and can paint a picture for our guests about the enjoyment they take from their lives with us.”

Ivy House and The Older Vicarage’s events will be held as part of Abbeyfield Week, an annual celebration of Abbeyfield Living Society (ALS) homes.

ALS is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting older people through a network of sheltered housing schemes, care homes and independent living complexes across England.
