THE bakery manager at a multi-award-winning farm shop near Wellington is taking to the skies to help raise some dough for charity (2024).

Lizzy Chapple, who works for Rumwell Farm Shop on the A38 between Taunton and Wellington, will be doing a skydive at Dunkeswell in Devon in aid of Mind in Somerset on April 13.

Lizzy, who lives in Taunton, said: “The skydive was a birthday present from my brother, Francis, and his partner Rachel. I was meant to jump with him, and a few others, a year or so ago, but had to postpone mine due to a chest infection. So, now I’m jumping solo!.

“It’s a 15,000ft tandem skydive and I’m really excited. I have done a bungee jump before and this is something I’ve wanted to do for years and I felt I could also raise money and awareness for a great cause such as Mind in Somerset at the same time. I’m scheduled to be there for 8am with the hope of jumping within three hours. All of this is weather permitting of course.”

Mind in Somerset, which is Rumwell Farm Shop’s 2024 Charity of the Year, works across the county to provide support and resources for people experiencing mental health challenges. It offers a range of services, including counselling, advocacy, and community outreach.

Anne Mitchell, a partner at the multi-award-winning Rumwell Farm Shop, said: “It’s wonderful what Lizzy is doing to help raise money for Mind in Somerset. She’s an integral member of our team and we’re delighted to be supporting her with her fundraising endeavour.

“Lizzy joined our team in June 2023 and handles the day-to-day running of our Bakery. She ensures everything operates smoothly and the production of all our baked goods is consistently of the highest of standards.
