Founded in Derbyshire in 1969, Slimming World now has more than 700,000 members across the UK.
By signing up, participants are subscribing to a programme that allows them to “eat the foods they love” with a food optimisation programme, contrary to other contemporary weight loss methods. The group also relies on physical exercise, and support from mentors.
A representative of Slimming World, Wellington, said: “This year’s achievement of 684 stone lost is a reflection of hard work, commitment, and the camaraderie we’ve built.
“Here’s to even greater success in the year ahead.”
