Storm Freya didn’t put off hardy visitors to Nynehead Court’s first Open Gardens of 2019.

Gardens enthusiasts attended to see the snowdrops, daffodils, primroses and bluebells out in the parkland, and the helebores, pulmonaria and brunnera in flower in the borders.

Head gardener Justin Cole held a formal tour of the grounds, after which visitors could dry out with tea and home-made cake in the Orangery. The event raised more than £100 for the National Gardens Scheme.

Home manager Angela Watkins said: “We are always delighted to show off our wonderful grounds, especially in order to raise money for the NGS, and are grateful that Storm Freya did not deter our visitors.

“We will be holding another Open Gardens on June 2, and have our garden fete on June 29.”
