RICHARD Huish College is celebrating the best results in the history of the college after students learned the outcome of their final exams this morning (August 14).

The overall A Level pass rate at Huish was 99 per cent, with almost a third of students achieving an A/A* and 62 per cent achieving high grades A*-B, eight per cent above the national average.

At Huish 84 per cent of A Level students gained A*- C grades and over 10 per cent (103 students) achieved three or more A*/A grades.

Over 80 per cent of students achieved high grades in their Extended Diploma Vocational, with at least one Distinction grade in their profile and 15 per cent of students gaining the very top results of triple Distinction*.

The college is also celebrating its first cohort of T Level results in Education and Early Years, with 82 per cent of students gaining a Distinction or Merit, with many moving into careers and further study in the education sector.

Principal, Emma Fielding, said: “Today’s results are absolutely stunning.

“I am unbelievably proud of our students, not just for their incredible academic achievements but also for the contribution they have made to our college community through their curiosity, commitment and kindness.”

Amongst the many, many outcomes and progression routes being celebrated today are:

· Maria Jiga (Hans Price Academy, Weston-Super-Mare) A*A*A*A, securing a Commercial Degree Apprenticeship with Rolls Royce.

· Chloe Fry (The Castle School) A*A*A, going to Cambridge to study Medicine.

· Henry Nicholas (Monkton Wood Academy) A*A*A*A*, progressing on to read Mathematics at Warwick University

· Molly Joyce (King Alfred School) A*A*A, securing a place to study Chemistry at Oxford (Baliol)

· Charlotte Mills (Kingsmead School) A*A*A*AA, progressing on to LSE to read Financial Mathematics and Statistics

· Lauren Hill (Monkton Wood Academy) A*A*A, progressing on to study Earth Science at Oxford University

· Ella Pal (The Castle School) A*AAA, will be reading History and Politics at Oxford University

· Evie Taft (Monkton Wood Academy) A*A*A*, going to Birmingham to read Medicine

· Courtney Young (Pyrland School) and Isla Chaplain (Uffculme School), both secured the highest grades of D*D*D* in Applied Science BTEC and are progressing on to Veterinary Science degrees

· Katerina Santos (Chilton Trinity School) A*A D*, set to study Media and Communications at Cardiff University

· Finlay Stewart (The Castle School) AAA, progressing to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey

· Jack Layzell (Monkton Wood Academy) achieved A*, Distinction, Distinction and was one of the highest performers in the country for A Level Photography

· Kate Townley (The Castle School) A*AA, moving on to read Law at Exeter University

· Jess Arscott (Pyrland School) achieved top grades of D*D*D in her BTEC Business Extended Diploma and is progressing on to a degree in Planning and Real Estate at Manchester University with a professional placement year.

Huish successfully placed 11 students for Medicine or Veterinary Science as well as a range of highly competitive Degree Apprenticeships.

Esme Jolly (Woodroffe School) is going to do a Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship with VWV Law firm in Bristol, Toby Hallett (Haygrove School) is progressing onto a Chartered Surveyor and Project Management Degree Apprenticeship, and Tom Barnard (The Castle School) has secured a Degree Apprenticeship with EDF in Nuclear Engineering.

Huish are also congratulating student Janis Lusitis (Huish Episcopi Academy), who achieved A*A*A*A A grades and has been accepted into the prestigious University of Richmond in Virginia (USA) after participating in the Sutton Trust Fulbright US Programme. He has also been awarded funding from the university itself – worth a hugely generous $300,000-plus.
