THERE is an opportunity for local people to join a day of fun and entertainment for the whole family in the beautiful surroundings of Wimbleball Lake on Exmoor this spring.
The recreation and environment charity South West Lakes Trust will be hosting a Countryside Fair at Wimbleball Lake, near Dulverton, from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, May 17.
Entry and car parking are free. The event is part of Exmoor National Park’s Exmoor Nature Festival 2026, which takes place from Saturday, May 16, to Sunday, May 31.
Peruse craft and trade stalls, enjoy local food and drink, follow the nature trail and admire vintage vehicles. Explore the countryside and wildlife around the lake, try your hand at watersports or fly fishing and meet some of the friendly clubs based at Wimbleball.
Confirmed exhibitors include Exmoor Society, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Somerset Beekeepers Association, South West Fishing for Life, Exmoor Baskets and Hurdles and Riverside Plant Nurseries.
Among the vintage vehicles on display will be classic tractors, Land Rovers and an Austin 7.
There will also be the opportunity to get out on the water with paddleboards, kayaks, canoes and rowing boats available to hire. South West LakesTrust will be offering taster sessions in paddleboarding, with a chance to try kayaking with Exmoor Canoe Club (donations welcome).
Wimbleball manager Naomi Beckwith said: “You can enjoy all the beauty of Exmoor’s great outdoors in one place at Wimbleball Lake. You can see moorland, woodlands and fields from the lake – it’s so peaceful, but there is always plenty to get involved in.
“We’re looking forward to showing visitors everything that Wimbleball has to offer and to make it a truly memorable day out we’ve invited lots of local sellers and other organisations to join us!”
