A MAN who threatened to kill his former partner and both her Wellington parents has been jailed for 12 months.
Kai Fisher, aged 36, of Washfield, near Tiverton, faced four charges when he appeared in Taunton Crown Court on Thursday (October 22).
Fisher, who was represented by barrister Rachel Smith, pleaded guilty to two offences but denied the other two charges.
He admitted domestic abuse and stalking involving fear of violence across four days in July of this year.
Prosecuting barrister William Hunter told the court that between July 24 and 27 Fisher had twice threatened to kill the woman, who was the mother of his child, and she feared he would carry through with the threats.
During the same period Fisher had also threatened to kill her father and her mother, with the father fearing violence would be used against hm.
Fisher’s conduct included sending persistent unwanted messages, making persistent unwanted calls, persistently leaving unwanted voice notes, threatening to kill the father, threatening to kill the mother, and driving past the couple’s address.
Similarly, his conduct towards his ex-partner included persistent unwanted calls, persistent unwanted voice notes, and threatening to kill her.
Judge Paul Cook made a finding of domestic abuse and sentenced Fisher to a year’s imprisonment in both cases, with the sentences to run concurrently.
He also made Fisher subject to a restraining order which will run for 10 years until October 21, 2036.
The order banned Fisher from directly or indirectly contacting his ex-partner and her father except through social services or an instructed solicitor for child access, and prohibited any contact with her mother in any circumstances.
Judge Cook said the two counts of threats to kill his ex-partner and her father which were brought under Offences Against the Person Act 1861, to which Fisher entered not guilty pleas, should remain on file.
