THOSE who still imagine libraries to be places of utter silence with stern librarians hushing anyone making a noise, may have had a surprise in Wellington.
In one part of the library, budding architects and engineers were getting stuck into the large collection of bricks as the Lego Club held its regular meeting. Parents aided them enthusiastically, maybe reliving childhood memories!
At the other end of the building, members of the Library Friends discussed the merits of books with customers at their book sale.
A friends spokesman said: “Add in the normal activities of the library, enhanced by several children getting excited about their participation in the Summer
Reading Challenge, and the decibel level was definitely above zero!”
The children’s Lego constructions are currently on display in the library.
