A MAN who died after falling from a bridge over the M5 motorway near Wellington has been named as Stephen Brain.
Fifty-eight-year-old Mr Brain was hit by two vehicles when he fell onto the southbound carriageway near the Taunton Deane service station on December 28.
The motorway was closed in both directions for much of the day as emergency services dealt with the incident, which happened at about 8 am, and police accident investigators recorded details of the scene.
Mr Brain, of Matthews Road, Taunton, was declared dead at the scene.
An inquest into his death was opened on Monday in the Old Municipal Buildings, Taunton, when his cause of death was given as 'multiple traumatic injuries'.
Senior Somerset coroner Samantha Marsh also received evidence of identification and then adjourned the proceedings to a date in September this year.
