FRIENDS of Wellington Park have a full programme of musical events in the park this summer.
The Friends also run a 50-50 stall selling plants, produce and nearly new items to raise funds for updating equipment, gazebos and chairs for the comfort of the growing audience who go along to the park.
A team of volunteers are on hand to sell refreshments, soft drinks and ice cream to visitors and families.
During the winter the Friends organise social events for their members and issue a newsletter.
Forthcoming entertainment includes, all Sundays between 2.30-4.30pm: June 18 – Elvis in the Park; June 25 – Pedro, Country and Western music; July 2 Double Dealing – Country and Western music; July 9 – Monopole, 60s-plus music; July 16 – Kingsbury Episcopi Band; July 23 – Turnette Uppe, 50s and 60s pop music; July 30 – The Friendly Spirit Swing Quintet, 30s and 40s swing; August 6 – The Right Side of the Track, gentle jazz; August 13 – Dark Town Strutters, traditional jazz band; August 20 – Yorkie, popular music; August 27 – Deane Big Band.
