PLANS to turn a home into two properties have received cautious support from members of Wellington Town Council’s planning committee.

Applicant Mr C. Kitto has applied to Taunton Deane Borough Council for planning permission to convert one home in Laburnum Road, Wellington, into two along with the building of single-storey and two-storey extensions.

Members of the local planning committee had mixed views when they discussed the application.

Cllr Andrew Govier said: “I’m not 100 per cent convinced this is a wise thing to do. It’s not a very big plot down there and it’s quite tight for parking. I’d be uneasy about voting in favour of this.”

But Cllr John Thorne said: “I do know the site and it is larger than most down there. They can probably get away with this.”

The Mayor, Cllr Gary James, added: “It will be shoehorning it in.”

Councillors voted in favour of supporting the application although a final decision will be made at Taunton Deane Borough Council.
