PUBLIC notices cover a range of applications, ranging from licensing applications for liqueur or entertainment to planning applications, roadworks and other works.
Their intention is to inform communities of the latest plans in their area and such applications are considered for approval or refusal by local authorities.
Here are some of the latest applications submitted to Somerset Council in Wellington:
• Holyoake Street, Wellington, will be closed from Monday, September 15, to Friday, October 10, to enable National Grid to carry out cabling works. The road will be closed from the junction with Station Road to the junction with Seymour Street.
• Wrangway Lane, Wrangway, will be closed from the junction with Green Lane on Friday, September 19, between the hours of 8.30am to 3.30pm, in order to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement works.
• A temporary 40mph speed limit will be put in place on the B3170 Honiton Road, Taunton, between the hours of 9.30am to 3.30pm on Friday, September 19, in order to allow Openreach to carry out pole testing works.
• Coombe Lane, Creech St Michael, will be closed from Monday, September 15 to Wednesday, September 17 in order to enable Wessex Water to replace Communication Pipe Relay works.
• Application 02/25/0006 Erection of a single storey extension to the rear of Priory Cottage, Combe Florey Road, Ash Priors.
• Application 38/25/0275/A Display of 1 No. externally illuminated fascia sign and 2 No. non-illuminated signs at Mackenzies, Castle Green, Taunton.
• Temporary traffic restrictions are to come into place at Church Lane and Lodes Lane, Kingston St Mary, from Monday, September 15 until Friday, October 31. This is to enable Wales & West Utilities to carryout gas main replacement works at Mill Cross. The works are to be phased, as signed on site.
• Parkfield Cresent, Taunton, will be closed from the junction with Parkfield Road from Thursday, September 18 to Friday, September 19, from the hours of 9.30am to 3.30pm each day. This is to enable Openreach to provide new ducting.
• Hereford Drive, Taunton, will be closed from Friday, September 8, to Friday, January 16 2026, to enable John Luffman Trading Ltd to carry out housing development works on behalf of Woolaway Housing scheme.
• Higher Swell, Fivehead, will be closed from Monday, September 8, to Friday, September 19 in order to enable Wessex Internet to carry out fibre cable connection and installation.
