A GROUP of ‘travellers’ moved onto a town council-owned field in the south of Wellington a little over 100 yards away from a primary school on Sunday (May 17).
Up to about a dozen caravans could be seen on the Hoyles Road field late on Sunday afternoon after a barrier preventing vehicular access appeared to have become broken.
The five-acre site, between Webbers Close and the Oakfield Park housing estate, is 130 yards from Wellesley Park Primary School.
The Wellington Weekly understands police attended the site shortly after the caravan dwellers moved in, but left soon after.
One person living nearby said: “I was walking my dog and suddenly I saw a man urinating in the bushes at the edge of the field.
“It was quite unpleasant.”
