POLICE are appealing for information following a confrontation in Wellington town centre which left a pregnant woman seriously injured.
Chantz Crane, who is in her 30s, suffered a black eye and feared for her unborn baby during an incident in Fore Street at around 1pm on Tuesday, April 29.
Ms Crane said she was “attacked viciously from behind” while walking to The Shack barber shop, which she co-owns, in broad daylight.
Avon and Somerset Police is yet to take any action as the investigation into the incident continues.
Police said in a statement: “Enquiries are taking place following an altercation involving two women in Wellington on Tuesday, April 29.”
Ms Crane was six months pregnant at the time of the incident and said she feared for the life of her unborn daughter, who remains in good health.
She claims she was dragged to the floor by her hair and punched in the face during the incident, with police appealing for witnesses or anybody with relevant information to come forward.
She said: “I was shouting ‘I’m pregnant, get off me’.
“That didn’t seem to deter her as she carried on shouting in my face.

“After deciding she was finished assaulting me, she stamped on my phone until she broke it and then walked off casually.”
Ms Crane said she contacted police at the time of the incident but claims she wasn’t visited by an officer until around 6.30pm the same day.
In that time the soon-to-be mother of two went to hospital for a check-up on her unborn baby.
Ms Crane shared her account of the incident on social media platform Facebook, sharing concerns about the attack and how it took place.
She added: “I was attacked from behind when everyone could see her - I was just so scared she would kick me in the stomach.
“Because I’m pregnant, I’m worried. I’ve got another little girl as well. The fact that she felt comfortable doing that in broad daylight, I’m scared of what else might happen.”
