THE Wellington branch of the Royal British Legion has launched its Poppy Day Appeal in the town.
The branch will have poppy stalls in the Co-op supermarket in Fore Street and in OneStop in High Street until Saturday, November 11.
Peter Critchard, of the local branch, said: “Once again please bear in mind when making a donation that we are giving the wooden crosses of Remembrance more significance, having been placed on Wellington’s Field of Remembrance and also those laid on the war graves in Wellington Cemetery by children from Rockwell Green Primary School.
“After Remembrance Tide has finished they will be removed and incinerated, and the ashes will be scattered on to the Garden of Remembrance in Wellington Park."
