IT is official – Wellington’s North Street will be re-opened at 3 pm on Tuesday (February 3).
Wessex Water confirmed on Tuesday afternoon its engineers were packing up and moving out, just in time for the school run.
A spokesperson said: “We will be off the road and the footpath, all complete, by 3pm today, so, earlier than originally planned.”
The road closure, which began on January 21, was the result of emergency work to repair a collapsed sewer which flooded the basement of a nearby house.
Wellington has seen traffic chaos and long queues on its town centre roads as a result of the closure, which left only Longforth Road as the main entry and exit point for the north of the town.
