RESIDENTS across the West Somerset and Wellington areas have been reminded there will not be any recycling or rubbish collections on Bank Holiday Monday (May 26).

Somerset Council said collection days across the county will change, moving back by one day.

A spokesperson said: “If a resident’s usual collection day is Monday, it will now take place on Tuesday, and so on.

“For those who usually have Friday collections, it will be rescheduled to Saturday, May 31.”

Recycling sites which operate on a Monday will be open as usual from 9 am to 6 pm on Bank Holiday Monday.

The spokesperson said: “To help manage the increased volume of recycling, residents are encouraged to make extra space in their recycling boxes by crushing and flattening recyclables.”
