Drivers in and around Somerset West and Taunton will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

But motorists will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M5, from 9am September 10 to 6am September 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 27 to junction 26 - lane closure for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal.

• A30, from 8pm April 1 2025 to 4am April 1 2026, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 20 to 31 mobile lane closures for drainage works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M5, from 8pm September 29 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 25 entry slip - lane closure for electrical works.

• M5, from 8pm September 29 to 4am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 25 to junction 24 - lane closure for drainage works.

• M5, from 8pm September 29 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 both directions, junction 25, lane closure for surveys.

• M5, from 8pm October 1 to 6am October 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 25 exit and entry slip road closures for lighting works, diversion for exit slip road via, junction 24 and return, diversion for entry slip road via, junction 26 and return.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
