RESIDENTS on a Wellington housing estate will be unable to enter or leave by car for part of each of the next nine nights because of roadworks.
Somerset Council has approved the nightly closure of the Cades roundabout on the B3187 Taunton Road between 6.30 pm and 11.30 pm each evening.
Its contractors Heidelberg Materials will be carrying out preparation work and resurfacing of the roundabout on behalf of Somerset Highways.
The closures start on Monday, May 18, and are scheduled to continue through the bank holiday weekend until Tuesday, May 26.
As well as Cades estate residents, the work will also impact some shoppers wanting to use the town’s Lidl supermarket, which is open until 10 pm on weekdays.
The Lidl vehicular entrance is off Nynehead Road, which will also be closed at the roundabout during the same times.
Wellington to Taunton bus services during the closures will have to take a diversion along the A38 relief road, while the Megabus Falcon Flyer service between Plymouth and Bristol Airport will be unable to use the Cades bus stop.
A council spokesperson said: “We do our utmost to minimise disruption where possible.
“If you live or have a business in the immediate area of works we will ensure access is maintained.”
Heidelberg is the company which last year carried out the £5.7 million resurfacing of the Chelston to M5 motorway link road and its junction 26 roundabout.
