YOUNG Sam Hutter from West Buckland is celebrating after passing her apprenticeship in meat and poultry at a local butchery.

Sam, 18, has spent the last year working towards her Level 2 Certificate for Proficiency in Meat and Poultry Industry Skills/Functional Skills at Rumwell Farm Shop.

Sam said: “I was very pleased with my progress and that I passed the assessment, which was awarded by the Meat Skills Training School (MEAT) in Ipswich. I learnt how to prepare a range of different meat joints and cuts ready to sell in the butchery. I am looking forward to using my skills in the future.”

Trevor Stark, butchery manager at Rumwell Farm Shop, who has worked in the butchery department for 11 years, added: “I would like to congratulate Sam on passing her Intermediate Level Apprenticeship. She worked really hard and has made good progress in learning the basic skills in becoming a butcher.

“Sam will grow in confidence and expand her skill set over the coming years.”
