TWO speed indicator devices (SIDs) have been bought by Wiveliscombe Town Council after receiving a grant from the Avon and Somerset Police Community Trust.

The SIDs can be used in four locations around the town and have recently been installed on the main B3227 Taunton to Bampton road.

Somerset Council is shortly to install two new posts for the SIDs to be used on the Langley Marsh road and the devices will be then be rotated through the four locations.

Wiveliscombe Speedwatch co-ordinator Charlotte Stus said: “They were easy to install and will definitely reduce speeding in Wiveliscombe.

“They very clearly show drivers whether they are speeding and this will help them to comply with speed restrictions and keep other road users and Wiveliscombe public safe.”
