Chameleon Theatre Company was gearing up for its first show, The Three Musketeers, on Friday (July 30) – but sadly Storm Evert had other ideas.

The group’s debut performance wasn’t the easiest to embark on. It had an outside venue, a blank space, but needing backdrops with entrances and exits and places to hide the three actors’ particularly fast changes.

The set went up on Wednesday evening, stayed up overnight for Thursday’s technical/dress rehearsal – and then was damaged when it came crashing down in the storm.

On Friday morning, an early call was made to postpone opening and the afternoon was spent examining the damage to stakes and a gazebo.

Due to the weather, a plan was made but the set was left down overnight so the crew was back on Saturday morning re-erecting it.

The Three Musketeers finally opened on Saturday afternoon (July 31) to a very appreciative audience who laughed in all the right places!

After Sunday’s performance, there is a short break until the daytime family show, with music, returns on Friday, August 6, continuing on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets cost £10 and £7. Contact [email protected] for full details.
