HUNDREDS packed Wellington High Street for the annual street fair on Sunday.

Ominous rain clouds threatened to put a dampner of the festival but later cleared and the fair was bathed in sunshine for much of the day.

Josephine Chave, of organisers Wellington Carnival Committee, said afterwards: "It was one of our best yet - far better than we expected."
