WWN Hemyock correspondent Janice Bawler was one of more than 40 households in the village to find a small flowerpot on her doorstep one recent evening.

The brown pot had been decorated with two hand-drawn smiling faces, and contained a polyanthus and a poem which read:

Here is a little flower with love from us to you

We hope that it will keep you smiling all the winter through

It will need a little water and the right amount of sun

We hope that you will accept it and see a good deed done
