COMMUNITY development officer Laura Batcha is sounding out Wellington residents on their views about how the town council can ‘help improve and join up the community’.
Ms Batcha recently held a series of engagement events in the council’s new Kings Arms Community Hub.
Now, she will be attending the next Wellington Independent Market in the town centre on September 20 for people who want to give her their opinions.
She will also be hosting two more casual drop-in sessions in Coffee #1, in Fore Street, on Monday, September 29, from 12 noon to 4.30 pm and on Thursday, October 16, from 10 am to 4 pm.
Ms Batcha is also contactable via telephone or email for anybody who cannot make any of those dates and can schedule individual meetings if requested.
Her contact details can be found on the council’s website.
Council project officer Rebecca Hunt said: “As well as meeting with our community development officer directly, members of the public are always welcome to visit our reception area on the ground floor of 30 Fore Street.
“Our staff are happy to meet people from the community to help where we are able, or signpost you to the correct authority if an issue is out of our jurisdiction.”
The town council regularly has a presence at community events across Wellington with councillors helping to man its gazebo and running its ‘How Good is Wellington?’ place standard tool.
The tool was developed by the Scottish Government as an interactive sticker chart which helps to track how people feel Wellington measures up across 14 different categories.
Ms Hunt said: “We know how important it is for people to see their local councillors and feel they can approach them.
“Any time you see the big red Wellington Town Council gazebo, please feel free to come along and have a chat.”
