A GARDEN party with entertainment and pizzas was held by residents of Wellington’s Old Vicarage Abbeyfield Society flats to celebrate the charity’s 70th anniversary.

Local singer and actress Kiera Chard performed a range of songs through the decades and A Pizza Heaven served up woodfired pizzas from a converted horse box.

The garden of the grade two listed Old Vicarage, in Wellington, was ideal for a party for residents to celebrate Abbeyfield's 70th anniversary.

Staff from water and environmental firm Churchill Environmental Services were joined by volunteers from Kent-based grounds maintenance contractors Chequers to help clean the house and grounds ahead of the party.

The grade two listed Old Vicarage, opposite the town’s St John’s Church, has 29 independent living flats which a year ago were saved from closure when the charity wanted to make financial savings.

The charity’s patron is King George III, who was unable to attend the anniversary party!
