The organisers of Wellington Carnival are now accepting applications for stalls at Wellington Carnival Street Fair this summer.

Businesses which want a stall are encouraged to apply early, as space has sold out the last two years.

Organisers hope many local businesses will also open on the day to benefit from the number of visitors to the event.

The street fair, being held on Sunday, June 2, has grown spectacularly over the last few years, now attracting more visitors than the carnival itself.

High Street and South Street will be filled with more than 80 stalls selling a variety

of goods. Carnival clubs and committees from all over Somerset will also be represented.

Local groups have also promised to support the street fair again, providing free entertainment in impromptu arenas in High Street and South Street.

The street fair is the main fundraiser for Wellington Carnival being held on Saturday, September 28.

Event secretary Louise Brierley said: “I am delighted to confirm that our committee last night confirmed we will be holding a presentation very shortly, issuing more than £3,500 to local groups and charities.

“This is the surplus cash from the organising committee’s fundraising efforts during 2018 which, of course, includes street fair and carnival.

“Further details of the presentation will follow in due course.”
