COUNCILLORS have backed an application made by Wellington Cricket Club to be allowed to have live music on a Friday and Saturday.
The club has applied to Somerset Council to “vary a premises licence” so that on Friday and Saturday it can sell alcohol from 11am to midnight, have live music from 7 pm to midnight and play recorded music from 7 pm to midnight.
Members of Wellington Town Council’s policy and finance committee backed the application when they discussed it at their meeting on May 13.
It was agreed to support the application – although it would be looked at in more detail by a working group of councillors set up to look at the club’s lease of the land at Wellington Playing Fields.
