WELLINGTON RFC U18s are poised to face Wellington School in the Sam Sherwin memorial match this week.

The annual match between the Colts and Wellington School is set to take place under floodlights at the school on Thursday (March 14).

The event is a popular fixture on the rugby calendar and regularly draws a bumper crowd.

The match honours the memory of Sam Sherwin, who played for both the Colts and Wellington School, before he tragically died at the age of 18 at his home in West Buckland.

Sam’s parents, Sue and Bill Sherwin, now raise money for the NSPCC in Sam’s name through the Sam Sherwin Tribute Fund, which has helped raise thousands of pounds for the children’s charity.

WRFC encouraged people to attend to “enjoy a fabulous match and support and excellent cause.”
