PLANS to develop two rural stations has been formally confirmed by the government.

On Monday, July 7, Chancellor Rachel Reeves officially announced that the highly anticipated Wellington and Cullompton stations would be included in plans to upgrade national transport systems.

Mrs Reeves stated: “Two new stations, Wellington and Cullompton, have been given the green light in the south west of England, unlocking significant new housing developments and providing more chances for people to access Exeter to visit loved ones and benefit from increased leisure, education and employment opportunities.”

In June, the Wellington Weekly News confirmed in June that the stations had been budgeted for, according to a statement released by the Treasury.

MP for Taunton and Wellington, Gideon Amos says the support is welcomed.
