PLANS are in full flow to mark the 80th anniversary of VJ Day to commemorate the end of hostilities between the Allied Forces and Japanese to mark the end of the Second World War in 1945.
The anniversary will be held on Friday, August 15, and commemorations will be very similar to those held last month to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Commemorations will centre on Wellington Park in the evening from 7pm with the beacon being lit at 9.30pm, while there will also be musical entertainment for people to enjoy.
It will be another opportunity for people to come together to honour and pay tribute to the Second World War generation.
Refreshments will be available on the night.
