THE Welly Hopper, a patient transport scheme for the town, is seeking volunteers to take telephone requests during the week.

The service, which transports individuals to Luson Surgery, Wellington Medical Centre, and Wellington Cottage hospital, needs additional support from people in the area to take phone requests from patients on either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday mornings, on a weekly basis.

Many town residents cannot make their own way to the doctor’s surgery, which is where the Welly Hopper comes in, offering patients free transport to the relevant site with the help of their volunteer drivers.

All coordinators are provided with a mobile phone and computer (to record bookings).
