SINGER-SONGWRITER Alex Hart is set to receive a warm welcome back when she plays a solo set at the Ostler Inn in Uffculme on Saturday (April 28).
Alex now lives in Plymouth but grew up in Ashill and was schooled in Uffculme, and performed at the pub just over a year ago.
Co-landlord Simon Stimson said: “It’s great to see Alex doing really well on the music scene. I remember her playing here several years ago when she was a promising youngster.
“Now she has a fabulous album and new EP under her belt, and record deals in the UK and US. She’s very much loved in these parts and once again it’s going to be a cracking night.”
Since releasing her first studio album On This Day she has embarked on European and UK tours supporting and playing in the band of Jethro Tull’s Martin Barre, and also held her own UK tour and appeared at festivals throughout the South-West. Alex now works with Grammy award winner Terry Britten – famous for Tina Turner’s What’s Love Got To Do With It.
Alex, whose influences include KT Tunstall and Doris Day, will be performing what she calls West Country Country on Saturday. She has been lucky enough to perform at such legendary venues as Troubadour and Ronnie Scott’s.
The gig starts at 8.30pm but music fans are advised to arrive by 8pm. Alex will play two one-hour sets and admission is free.
