THIS December, Genesis Youth Theatre returns with a gripping new production filled with fractured friendships, buried secrets, and unexpected twists.

Set in a secondary school where nothing is quite as normal as it seems, The Wrong Way Round follows a group of inquisitive students called the ‘Enn-Elite Investigators’ who are having a quiet final term before moving up to high school.

However, when their teacher disappears and unfamiliar faces intrude, the team tackles the case and delves into a dimension of mysterious mischief.

As reality starts to shift and the world turns “the wrong way round”, friendships are tested, secrets come to light and the group must work together to uncover the truth before everything falls apart.

Packed with tension, heart and high-energy musical numbers, The Wrong Way Round is a thrilling show about courage, loyalty, identity and finding your voice when everything feels upside down.

Directed by Carrie Groves, the hair-raisingly hilarious, musical mystery adventure has been described as a ‘must-see’ for Stranger Things fans.

Genesis is the youth theatre branch of the Wellington Arts Association, working with young performers aged 11 to 16.

Chaired by Keira Chard, Genesis Youth Theatre Group provides a supportive, creative environment for young people to develop performance skills, confidence and teamwork, and The Wrong Way Round is a brilliant showcase of their dedication and talent.

They have previously performed the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast in July 2025.

The Wrong Way Round will be performed at Wellington Arts Centre from December 17 to 20 at 7.30pm.

A matinee performance will be held on Saturday, December 20.
