WELLINGTON Pétanque Club have started the summer season with their Mixed Doubles Competition.
Teams competed in two leagues with the top two teams playing for the Shield and third and fourth playing for the Plate.
Jo Beer and Richard Brickles played a closely fought game against Judith Harker and Geoff Sully to take the Shield. Plate winners Marion Jones and Rodney Dewey played against Rachel Fenwick and Mike Viney. Club President and former Olympian Rachel Fenwick presented the trophies.
Wellington have also made a good start in their bid to win the Devon Pétanque League championship for the third year.
*Wellington Petanque Club, formed in 2018, is based at Corams Lane. The club has more than 50 members and play all the year round.
Petanque can be played by all ages and abilities together but Under 18s must be accompnied by an adult.
