KIERAN Bailey, who captained Willand Rovers last season, has signed for Toolstation League side Wellington.

Central defender Bailey joins Wellington on dual registration with Westbury United of the Southern League and goes straight into the squad for the important home game against Oldland Abbotonians on Saturday.

He moved to the Wiltshire club in December, having been with Willand Rovers since the summer of 2021.

Bailey made more than 75 appearances for Willand, having previously played for Shepton Mallet and Chard Town.

Assistant player-coach Jack Porter said: “Kieran will bring experience and presence to the team and can play in various formations.

“He is a dominating and physical defender and is keen to help us.”

Bailey is Wellington's second new signing of the week, following the arrival of goalkeeper Jake Viney who is also in Saturday's line-up to face Abbotonians.
