KINGSMEAD Short Mat Bowls Club have presented a cheque to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance for £500 after the completion of their five-week bowling tournament held at Langford Budville village hall .

Anyone interested in coming and trying bowling are very welcome any Wednesday morning at the hall at 10.a.m. They should bring a pair of flat shoes or slippers.

Kingsmead is a social club for people to meet, enjoy bowling, a cup of coffee and a chat. Tuition is available if you enjoy the experience.

*Short mat bowls is an indoor sport in which players attempt to score points by rolling a heavy ball along a fairly flat surface, to gain as many shots as possible by getting their bowls nearer to the jack than their opponents, and so outscore them. The game is a modern variation on lawn bowls, from which it is derived.
