WELLINGTON Bowling Club's Pumas and Lions were at home while Tigers went to Exmouth to play Madeira. Pumas were happy winners of their match while Lions and Tigers were runners-up.

The Pumas team of Simon Spalding, Alan Every and skip Alan Moore allowed the opposition to take a lead in the first half and although they came back near the end it was too late and they lost out 17 – 11.

On the next rink Phil Hutchings, Peter White and skip Ken Brown really went to town. Although they only led by three shots at the halfway point they won some big ends in the second half including a mighty 8 shots in the 17th for a comprehensive 38 – 13 victory. So all Pumas were purring happily with an overall 49 – 30 win.

Mike Copping, Nick Channon and skip Mike Groves' Lions had a very close battle against Marina A from Dawlish. They played well against strong opposition, winning it 22 – 19.

Unfortunately Paul Kelly, Julian Street and skip Graham Brown were 17 – 0 down after 8 ends. They pulled back later but Marina won fairly comfortably 23 – 14, to take an overall victory by six shots, 42 – 36.

Tigers struggled to find their best form on Madeira's green. Eddie Dilley, Roger Murphy and skip Bill Warnett played steadily but were always chasing the game and lost 16 – 26.

Mike Connor, Henry Richbell and skip Tony Gibson played well and they were close behind but Madeira pinched it 18 – 15. The wins on both rinks gave Madeira an overall victory by 44 shots to 31.

So Pumas were the best of the big cats this time. The Lions and Tigers lost but enjoyed a pleasant afternoon's bowling.
