ROCKWELL Green Shortmat Bowls Club entertained Trull to a four-mat ten ends friendlies - and won convincingly 50-15.

When things got underway (Green names first ) Joy, Reg & Dennis played Steve, Carol & Malcom and the scores were level after 4 ends but a 4 on end 5 put the Green in the driving seat. Trull did fight back but the Green did just enough to keep their noses in front to take the game 9-5 .

Next up Syd, Mick B & Mike R kept Val, Rita & Mike off the score sheet until the 7th end by which time the Green trio had amassed 14 shots. The Trull trio could only manage to score on two ends giving the Green trio a rather flattering 16-4 victory .

As is normal with friendlies. a tea /coffee break was taken with more chat around the hall,

The Green, as always, made changes after the break. Next up Dave, Reg & John Y were pitted against Rita, Steve & Mike. The Trull trio were only able to take 2 ends while the Green trio racked up 12 shots to the Trull’s 3, thus the Green gaining another unexpectedly large win.

Last for the afternoon Cass, Bill & Mike R were up against Val, Malcom & Evan, The first 6 ends were hard fought at 4-3 in the Green’s favour, but a full house on end 7 for the Green took the game away from Trull who never recovered and failed to register another shot, going down to another flattering defeat to the Green trio by 13-3 .

The afternoon was enjoyed by all the players even if the result was a resounding win for the home side.

Another time, another day and the visitors could find the form that they are capable of; but when things don't go your way you try that much harder, usually to no avail .
