UNBEATEN Ashbrittle, already assured of the second division title in the West Somerset League, notched up another win when they hosted Stoodleigh - thanks to a strong batting display by their top order batters.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first the hosts were given a good start by openers Wilf Embleton who hit 46 and Robin Williams who made 23.

Ollie Edwards then came in and hit 69, sharing a good partnership with Steve Grant who made 28 to help Ashbrittle post 236 before they were bowled out with two balls remaining.

Bing Torrance ended with three wickets for 36 while Martyn Williams claimed three for 39.

When Stoodleigh replied opener Dan Elliott was the mainstay of the innings with 44 and Matt Shaw contributed 22, but the remaining batters struggled against a strong Ashbrittle attack as the visitors were all out for 142 in the 29th over.

For the home side Callum White took four for 34, while Oli White ended with three for 14.

Scores: Ashbrittle 236, Stoodleigh 142.
